Living Through
Sitting in the back of our old tour bus
Shootin the breeze with my old friend Gus
He tells the story of some long lost day
In all its glory it just won’t go away
Through all these years, well, it’s here to stay
It’s about this girl, let’s call her Sue
Fill in the blank and it’s just nothing new
But you can sense the memories from his eyes
When a heart is open we can sympathize
And that awaken you
It’s OK. . .his story’s never gonna go away
It’s gonna bounce in your head, off the walls of an echo chamber
Richocheting back, even though it’s not original
We can relate and so we do
After all we’ve been, through
It’s harder living through
I snap my fingers and he asks me what?
We’ve reached the venue so it’s time to cut (loose, Gus, where are you)
I let him know he just wrote a song
About being so normal that you know you belong
And that we hear, what’s been bugging you
It’s one thing to be listening
With suffering only sometimes heard
But living through a day’s reality
The weight it goes well beyond the words
Emotions stirred
To be fully heard, what you’ve been living through
It’s harder living through
Instrumental
It’s OK. . .this story’s never gonna go away
It’s gonna bounce in your head, off the walls of an echo chamber
Richocheting back, even though it’s not original
Play it again and we’ll all agree
So captivating, naturally
Cause we’ve been there living through
We know it’s harder living through
But that’s a life well-lived and true
Ya, I’m still living through
