Always Calling

Staring into the mirror with the multiple lights
Loading up on the make-up just to make her look right
With all those fans outside she knows she is the queen
And for that big number ya she’s gonna give them steam

Soon the curtain rises so blinding there they are
Like metal to a magnet drawing closer to their star
A calm begets the stage as she lights her cigarette
The closer to the microphone the sultrier she gets
She croons about a dream where she crosses the divide
Over the rainbow where love is not denied

Crawling in from the night she cracks through the door
Where you’ve been? We’ve been worried now what, what d’you go out for?
She turns away goes upstairs. She says she needs to sleep
Closing the world behind her for another one more sweet

Entering the darkness of her room she feels so small
Though burning brightly within herself she curls into a ball
Humming to herself that it’s all OK
Believing all you can do until you’re swept away
It’s always calling you
The light is shining through
