By the View (St Augustine)
Down by the river, I found my baby
She was a swimming, in her birthday suit
When she saw me coming, she swam out deeper
Beckoning me to take off my boots
So I waded into the deeper troubled waters of my life
To me that girl was true
I fell in love and not really doing as I otta
Merely motivated only by the view. . . by the view
Down by the river, I found my baby
She was a swimming, in her birthday suit
I was in Paris, posing for paintings
For pure profession, cause I’m no prude
But then my painter, she made me dinner
And when I turned around, I found that she was nude
So I waded into those deeper troubled waters of my life
To me that girl was true
I fell in love and not really doing as I otta
Merely motivated only by the view. . . but that view
I was in Paris, posing for paintings
For pure profession, cause I’m no prude
Here we live on a merry-go-round
Pick your pony today
Find your love and there’s nothing more profound
Than spreading your DNA
Now that I’m wiser, much like St. Augustine
I’m very careful, when I confess
But you’re so beautiful, in all this candlelight
Maybe you’ll join me as I un–
Cause there ain’t no cure for these deeper troubled waters of our lives
To me I know you’re true
Let’s fall in love for real and we can do just what we wanna
And for once it can be more than just the view. . .as I’m with you
Now that we’re wiser, much like St. Augustine
Let’s do be careful, as we confess
