Almost There

I’m a wave on the water
A ripple in the shifting sand
The echo of thunder
Running wild and homeless

No attachments do I bare
The beat of the road keeps me aware
Driving onward nowhere bound
The purest love and strength I’ve found
Like the Sun
I rise to greet the sky
Like the wind
I can’t catch my reasons why

Is this how it feels to find where your heart belongs
And how can it be that it’s taken me so long
To be the one who I am, when all I did was as I was told
When all I did was as I was told
To be who I am and not what they want of me
So where should I go, now that I’m running free?

Like a flower to a bee
The beauty of my inner voice sings to me
Sweet and simple, kind and true
It’s taken me forever just to listen to you
Everyday
There’s so much that needs to be done
I’m almost there
But in this moment I’ve begun

When the stars stand still
My breath it catches me
And I’ve found the will
The will to touch these dreams
