Sons and Daughters
It’s harder to be undecided
With our roots in the ground there’s no way to roll
And harder to see when one-sided
Magnifying the truth found in a part of the whole
It’s like painting a rainbow in white and black
Our response to the critic is to gauge an attack
Who wants to be brave and unsettled
When we’re snug as a bug in our golden routines
So what will we do with all that precious metal
Will we carry it with us and keep it clean
And fish can’t see water
It’s getting hotter and hotter
For our sons and our daughters
Do you think it looks good?
Our values trump facts, that’s a given
And we reach our conclusions unaware
So we hire police to guard our prisons
And bow to the gods to answer our prayers
So how can you tell when you’re hypnotized
When we can’t see the shell from its pretty disguise
[Instr]
Our common ground is this planet
Our basic needs we hope to be met
And I’ll have to admit I’m just a bit of a romantic
Because all of that destruction it hasn’t happened just yet
Those fish can’t see water
And it’s getting hotter and hotter
For our sons and our daughters
Do you think it looks good?
Fish can’t see water
It’s getting hotter and hotter
Do you think it looks good?
