“On the Count of Zero” (where everything truly begins) is very much a work of collaboration and all the stronger for it. On drums, muscle memory, black belt percussionist guru Joe Netzel. On bass, low frequencies flourish with the thumb thumping talents of Rob Ostrander. Plus there is an angel on board in the voice of renown Vermont folk singer Patti Casey, whose vocal beauty is complemented by silky flute performances. On fiddle, accomplished Vermont foot-stomping troubadour Charlotte Brodie and returning on saxophone is the rising dog of a musician Toby Salas, stolen temporarily from that Gang of Thieves. Keyboard aficionado John Wright brings to this album the supernatural sounds of an authentic mellotron. The musical brilliance of the youthful Julian Lamb whose cello piece on track 4 is a spark of chain melting energy. And all of the above is magically threaded together by the sonically gifted master of recording masters Lane Gibson, JdL.
